Today is a good day. I was satisfied with the numbers on the scale this morning. I repeat what I said in my first post that keeping a food journal is the way to go to truly understand why you may not be losing weight and why you are too. I learned to do this in Weight Watchers, and it works. Also I had a good exercise day yesterday. I got up early and did some weights at home and I walked at work.
This morning I did not get up so early so no weights today unless I make time to go to the fitness center, but I have a busy day. I will walk on my lunch hour though.
I had oatmeal with cinnamon and a little organic sugar and milled flax seed and a side of fresh pinapple for breakfast.
My lunch is fake egg, boca crumble, laughing cow light cheese, organic spinach omelet on Arnold's thin bread. Hey I can't wait for lunch now.
I will be going to the Mexican Cafe AGAIN tonight. No beer with this group of friends and I think I will stick with the small order of black beans and a few chips unless I look up their menu today and see something better.
So much for today. I know this is only interesting to the author but it is my quest to lose a few more pounds and maintain that and as this blog moves along I will be learning about RVing budgeting and pass that along to anyone who may happen to read this.
Actually here is a budget tip I have learned along the way. There are some bills that many of us have that do not occur every month, lets say car insurance. I pay mine twice a year. I figure out how much that works out to each month and hold back that amount of money. Also there are other expenses that are out of the blue or again not occuring each month. For example, oil changes or other car/scooter expenses. I put away $53 a month toward those unexpected expenses. The money for these various expenses is in one bank account but I have categorized them seperately on a spreadsheet. For me these "mini accounts" are
Vehicle maintenance/registration/license
Clothing and gear (I need business casual work clothes and the gear is for my outdoor sports needs)
Medical (co pays & other needs right now, Medical insurance payments upon retirement)
House upkeep (just had to use $200 for roof repair)
Gifts
Vacation
Insurances
Property taxes
RV purchase
Each of these "mini accounts" gets a different amount each month. The cool thing is by doing this I know I have that money available and how much money there is for that particular thing. If I don't have a need for the money in any given category then the balance just builds. For example, in my medical account I save for the co-pays required by my insurance and other medically related items, like eye glasses. I have not had to use it but if I need to change lenses or get new glasses for some reason I have the money there to pay for it. No worries.
It is a very freeing process. I do not have much but what I do have I attempt to handle in a way that is most productive. Try it. It feels good.
