Basically I am a vegetarian. I do consume dairy. No meat, no eggs. Fish sometimes as my mom can't wrap her head around the no meat thing.
I sometimes worry about getting enough protein but I guess I shouldn't because as I read more about it I think I get enough. You can figure out how much protein you need a day by using this formula
Divide your weight in pounds by 2.2 this equals your weight in kilograms.
If you weigh 150 pounds, 150/2.2 = 68.2
Multiply this number by 0.8 this equals the amount in grams of protein you need each day.
For example 68.2 x 0.8g = 54.6
So if you weigh 150 pounds you would need about 55 grams of protein per day.
If you exercise you need more, if you are sedentary you need less.
You can get protein in many things that you might not usually think about. A serving of broccoli has about 3g of protein. To boost your protein intake you can supplement with a small handful of nuts. Walnuts have the largest protein count of the nut group.
